Josh Stevens BA (HONS)
Graphic Designer, Hand Lettering Artist & Surfer
Hey, my name is Josh and I'm a ridiculously creative designer that's relentlessly obsessed with letters.
I'm from Devon (South West UK), but have been based in Byron Bay (NSW Australia) for the last five years.
I studied Graphic Design for seven years, finishing up with a National Diploma, Higher National Diploma
and Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree all in Graphic Design. I also hold an AS-Level in Photography
and a Diploma in Marketing & Communications & New Small Business Management. When I completed University,
I was invited to exhibit my work at The New Designers Exhibition in London.
With a full-time role at a fast-paced, busy print & design studio, I gained valuable professional industry experience
in both print & digital design. From client meetings & developing concepts to print finishing & packing.
I’ve spent several years working on a variety of international magazines as an Editorial Graphic Designer and also
within a Senior Graphic Designer role at a luxury real estate agencies’ in-house studio.
Throughout my career I have had an intense passion for typography and lettering, I even developed dissertations and thesis's
regarding the human perception of letterforms and functions of alphabets. All this intense admiration for letters naturally lead
me to hand lettering and lettering art, which I have been practicing and integrating with my design work for three years.
I apply my design skills to a variety of tasks, including but not limited to -
corporate branding, logos, business cards, editorials, social media, custom lettering, marketing & copy writing.
Studying Graphic Design at School & at Somerset College of Arts & Technology (UK). Finishing up with a GCSE & National Diploma in Graphic Design & an A-Level in Photography also.
Studying Graphic Design at Swansea Metropolitan University (UK). Finishing up with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours Degree and a Higher National Diploma in Graphic Design.
Professionally practicing Graphic Design from an unpaid intern at a large lifestyle magazine publishers, to a full-time employee at a busy print & design studio, to becoming a freelancer.
One of my biggest achievements to date is being selected to exhibit
my design work at The 2011 New Designers Exhibition in Islington, London.
New Designers is the UK's most important exhibition for emerging design talent
and is run at The Business Design Centre in London over a course of three days.
